Lectures in Complex Systems
A series of lectures on the fundamental topics of Complexity Science

In the spirit of the classic doctorate lectures that used to be held during PhD studies, plus previous series of lectures undertaken at the ICREA-Complex Systems Lab (UPF), we have launched this programme of lecture series aimed at researchers willing to learn on broad yet spanning far and wide in the present academic literature, particularly concerning Biophysics, Language, Systems Biology, Ecology and Complex Systems in general.

The aim of this series of lectures is to bring together researchers to discuss these topics in a master class format, but with a rather smaller audience. We believe this to be an exellent exercise and part of a process of broadening the spectrum of ideas that can develop potential breakthroughs in modern Science.

These lectures are organized by ICREA-Professor Ricard Solé and Jordi Piñero.

Topics in past sessions:

  1. Information Dynamics I & II (by Jordi Piñero - July 2017). Lecture Notes.

Future topics:

  • Turing machines, transfinite numbers & the Bit-Guesser theory (by Luís Seoane - TBA)
  • Statistical Physics of NK Landscapes (by Jordi Piñero - TBA)
  • Fundamentals of Information Theory (by Ricard Solé - TBA).
  • Dimensionality, Scaling and Fermi Problems (by Jordi Piñero - TBA).
